Friendship is Magic
Reading is for nerds; watch an animatic instead! You’d be surprised how much of a narrative one can stuff into a few panels with a song slapped on top. No, but I’m putting them here anyway, and no one can stop me. Fics focusing mostly on Luz and Amity’s relationship, written from Luz and/or Amity’s perspective. Mostly good feels and fluff, with hurt/comfort in the darker ones. You can also add to the current recommendations if you want.
General Lumity Fics
If you’re looking specifically for Skarscha fics, check out the Ballad of the Banshees under Other Rec Lists. Fics which feature Boscha realizing she’s a terrible person. Anyway, themes of mental health and redemption are big in these ones. Fics where either a) Amity ends up on Earth, or b) Amity flees/gets kicked out of Blight Manor. Some of the best fics this fandom has produced are in this category.
Don't post too much
This includes "that one executive (or Disney in general) who said TOH was not on brand," or various YouTubers that actively or have shown dislike towards the show. To avoid new submissions getting lost under a large amount of new posts, we ask that you don't post too much content at once. If you have a lot of content to share, you're better off curating the best of it, then spreading out your posts over time. Multichapter fics are linked to their first chapter. Fic series are linked to the first chapter of the first fic in the series, whose title may differ from the series title I’ve given. Series comprised of several multichapter pieces will also have a link to the first chapter of the most recent addition.

Okay friends, I’ve read over 500 TOH fics at this point, and I’ve compiled some of the best into a single post for you to peruse. Fics are sorted into categories, with some being further sorted into subcategories, then listed roughly by increasing length. Categories and subcategories are based on common themes or vibes that I’ve noticed are popular in the TOH fanfic sphere.
You are welcome to enjoy whatever ship you like, but you may not attack other ships or the people who prefer them. Comments that discourage users liking certain ships are not necessary. We understand not everyone will be able to watch the show on Disney, but we cannot endorse or allow these on the subreddit. This includes asking for, naming, or linking. Please check to ensure that what you’re posting has not already been posted.
The Owl House fandom exploded in 2021, and with this growth came a tsunami of incredible fanworks. I read what I can, but there’s just too many quality fics for me to read and recommend them all. Here is an in-progress list of other rec lists by other enthusiastic readers — if you want a comprehensive view of great fics created by this fandom, check these out. A list of authors with at least six published TOH fanfics. I generally tried to include a maximum of three fics per author on this list, but many authors have written so much quality fanfic — thus this category.

Related TOH Communites
This also applies to people "trolling" or intentionally trying to cause drama or bring drama from other sources. For fics I couldn’t quite place into any general category. Fics that use the style and tone of Dana Terrace’s Beta designs. Often set in Urban Fantasy AUs that mash Earth and The Demon Realm together into a single world. Fics written primarily for humor, as well as some romcoms with a bit more fluff to them.
Additionally, these fics often contain a strong undercurrent of action/adventure. If you’re looking for a grand epic or just some spicy variety, crack one of these bad boys open. Fics with a larger focus on friendships — mostly between Luz, Amity, Gus, Willow, and occasionally King. Now also featuring some Luz and Hunter friendship. Often have similar vibes to found family fics.
We do not allow posting of allegedly “leaked” information. Either it is false and spreading misinformation, or it is true and extremely disrespectful towards the crew. Any reposts from the past 235 days or Top of all Time (3k and up) will be removed.
I’ve written brief descriptions for each fic, and included their completion status and rating. Note that each individual fic in a series has its own rating — I’ve given each series the most restrictive rating it contains. That being said, some fics on this list may deal with topics and themes that some readers may wish to avoid, such as child abuse or homophobia. Be sure to check the tags of any fic before reading. These are recommendations made by Tropers for The Owl House fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on their respective pages.
